Private equity and venture capital funds today represent an important part of our practice. Mannheimer Swartling advises clients on the establishment of funds, reviews funds on behalf of prospective investors, advises on acquisitions, divestments of, and investments in companies on behalf of the funds, as well as the financing of such acquisitions and investments. We also advise fund portfolio companies on day-to-day corporate matters.
The dedicated Funds and Investments practice is unique in the Nordic with its experience of the full range of private equity and venture capital matters. We have worked exclusively on fund matters for more than a decade, and therefore have extensive experience on the operations of Swedish and international buyout and venture capital funds. In addition, we are pioneers on the establishment of quoted funds and infrastructure funds, and we also establish hedge funds.
The Funds and Investments practice forms part of our Private Equity industry group, which combines expertise from across the firm including tax, EU and competition, finance, labour and real property.
We are closely linked to various operators on the private equity market, making it natural course for us to get involved in issues important to the Swedish private equity industry. For example, we have created a Nordic private equity network within the scope of the Nordic Council of Ministers. The network, which constitutes some of the leading law firms in the Nordic region, aims to improve the market conditions of the Nordic private equity and venture capital funds. In addition, we advise trade associations on legislative matters which affect the private equity industry. In recent years we have participated in discussions with politicians and representatives of the industry on proposed changes in the Swedish legislation in order to improve the Swedish private equity market. Through participation of this kind and because of our deep knowledge of the market and legislation, we have the capacity to develop new fund structures based on the latest legal updates.
