Contract award notice granted for the procurement of the operation of the Stockholm metro system

Stockholm Region Public Transportation Authority (SL), which is responsible for public transportation services in the Stockholm region, has granted a contract award notice for the operation of the Stockholm metro system. The procurement has been described as the largest non-military public procurement in the world.

The assignment was awarded to Connecting Stockholm AB after a competitive sourcing process with a total of four tenderers. Connecting Stockholm AB’s main owners are Go-Ahead of the UK and ComfortDelgro of Singapore. The assignment includes e.g. traffic operation, rolling stock maintenance, customer-oriented services and other maintenance services. The duration of the contract is eleven years.

The Stockholm metro carries more than a million passengers every weekday through a hundred stations. The assignment’s value is estimated to approximately SEK forty billion.

Mannheimer Swartling advised SL in the procurement project.
