Capio retains contract to operate St. Göran’s Hospital

The Board of Health and Medical Care of Region Stockholm decided on 22 October 2024 to award the contract for the operation of St. Göran’s Hospital to Capio. The procurement, which is one of Region Stockholm’s largest, covers a period of eight years from 2026, with the possibility of a four-year extension, making a maximum of twelve years. The contract value over twelve years amounts to SEK 55 billion.

St. Göran’s Hospital in Stockholm has been operated by Capio since 1999. The last procurement took place in 2012, but in 2022 the contract was extended for a further four years.

Capio is the largest private healthcare provider in the Nordic region and offers a wide range of high-quality healthcare services in the form of hospitals, specialist clinics and health centres. St. Göran’s Hospital is the only private emergency hospital in Stockholm and one of the largest in the country in terms of emergency patients.

Mannheimer Swartling advised Capio in the procurement.
