Mannheimer Swartling will commit to Science Based Targets
Mannheimer Swartling takes another step in its environmental work by joining the Science Based Targets initiative, SBTi. The firm will set scientifically based targets to help curb global temperature rise to well-below 2°C above pre-industrial levels and pursue efforts to limit warming to 1.5°C in line with the Paris Agreement.
In 2018, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change warned that global warming must not exceed 1.5°C to avoid the catastrophic impacts of climate change. The SBTi is a partnership between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute and the World Wide Fund for Nature, driving ambitious climate action in the private sector by enabling companies to set science-based emissions reduction targets.

Participating in the initiative is a five step process. Mannheimer Swartling undertakes to set SBT for the business. After that, the firm has 24 months to develop its targets and receive an independent assessment and approval from SBTi. The firm then will announce its targets, report company-wide emissions and progress against targets on an annual basis.
