Mandate for the Equality Ombudsman (DO) ahead of the implementation of the EU Pay Transparency Directive.
In a letter, the government has tasked the DO with taking further preparatory measures ahead of the implementation of the EU Pay Transparency Directive. The DO has previously received both a mandate and funding related to this work.
However, the Government’s letter does not specify what the DO is to do in concrete terms within the framework of this new mandate. The Government states that the DO is to carry out promotional efforts regarding employers’ pay survey work with the aim of increasing knowledge about how such work is conducted.
This mandate suggests that the government is now preparing a legislative proposal on the matter, not least because the EU has effectively closed the door to renegotiating the directive. The DO is to report on the mandate no later than November 1, 2027, which likely does not mean that the government will wait that long to implement the measures itself.
