Vattenfall enters into a EUR 2 billion sustainability-linked credit facility

On 31 October 2024, Vattenfall entered into a EUR 2 billion revolving credit facility with a bank syndicate consisting of Nordic and international banks. The facility is refinancing and replacing a syndicated credit facility that was established in 2020 and the facility is intended to be used towards general corporate purposes.

The facility under the new credit agreement is linked to certain of Vattenfall’s sustainability performance targets, meaning that the interest rate of the facility will be adjusted up or down based on Vattenfall’s performance against sustainability criteria relating to CO2e emissions.

Vattenfall is one of Europe’s largest producers and retailers of electricity and heat and has approximately 21,000 employees. The main markets are Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and the United Kingdom. Vattenfall is owned by the Swedish state.

Vattenfall was advised by Mannheimer Swartling in the transaction.
