Vattenfall issues green hybrid bonds and repurchases existing hybrid bonds

On 26 May 2021, Vattenfall issued two tranches of new green hybrid bonds in an aggregate amount of SEK 3.5 billion with a maturity of 62 years and a first call option after seven years.

The capital securities, which are Vattenfall’s first green SEK hybrid bonds and also the first hybrid bonds that Vattenfall issues under Swedish law, were admitted to trading on Nasdaq Stockholm’s Sustainable Bond Market on 27 May 2021. The new capital securities have been assigned BB+ and Baa2 credit ratings by the credit rating agencies S&P and Moody’s, respectively.

In connection with the new issue, Vattenfall also repurchased approximately SEK 2.8 billion of its existing SEK-denominated hybrid bonds issued under English law.

Vattenfall is a leading European energy company with approximately 20,000 employees and operations mainly in Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and the United Kingdom. Vattenfall is owned by the Swedish state.

Vattenfall was advised by Mannheimer Swartling.
