Environmental permit to extend the Stockholm metro from Kungsträdgården to Nacka and the south of Stockholm

Under the 2013 Stockholm Agreement it was decided to expand the Stockholm metro system to Nacka, Arenastaden and Barkarby, and for the blue metro line to be extended to Gullmarsplan and be connected to the green metro line in order to increase passenger capacity through central Stockholm. The expansion includes eleven new metro stations, 20 kilometres of new metro line and the construction of 82 000 new residences in connection to the new metro stations.

On 19 Juni 2019, the Land and Environment Court at Nacka District Court granted Region Stockholm an environmental permit regarding the expansion of the blue metro line to Nacka and to the south of Stockholm via Gullmarsplan and Sockenplan, where it will be connected to the green metro line. The permit has gained legal force.

Mannheimer Swartling assisted Region Stockholm in the permit process.
