Increased financing for the extension of the Stockholm metro and other infrastructure projects in Stockholm
The Swedish state (through “Sverigeförhandlingen” and “Stockholmsförhandlingen”), the Stockholm County Council and the municipalities of Stockholm, Nacka, Solna, Järfälla, Huddinge, Täby, Vallentuna and Österåker have on 24 October 2025 entered into agreements for increased financing of ongoing and/or approved infrastructure projects in Stockholm.
The projects include three extensions of the current Stockholm metro lines, a new metro line between Fridhemsplan and Älvsjö, a new tramway from Flemingsberg to Skärholmen, (Southern tramway), an extension of the light rail-system Roslagsbanan to the centre of Stockholm (T-centralen) and a new subway station in Hagalund. In connection with the agreements for increased financing, a letter of intent regarding the so-called Eastern connection (Östlig förbindelse) has been entered into between the Swedish state, the Stockholm County Council and the municipalities of Stockholm and Nacka.
The Swedish state has been advised by Mannheimer Swartling. The firm’s team consisted of Martin Pekkari, Lisa Tyche and Fredrik Sjövall.
