Vattenfall divests shares in Västerbergslagens Energi, acquires Västerbergslagens Elförsäljning and divests shares in Lilla Edets Fjärrvärme

Vattenfall AB divested its 50.6 per cent stake in Västerbergslagens Energi AB to Ludvika Kommun Stadshus AB and Fagersta Municipality. In connection therewith, Vattenfall AB acquired all shares in Västerbergslagens Elförsäljning AB from Västerbergslagens Energi AB. The transactions were completed on 15 June 2026. The consideration for Vattenfall’s stake in Västerbergslagens Energi AB amounts to approximately SEK 1,436 million.

Västerbergslagens Energi AB is engaged in the production of and trade in heat and electricity, the sale of energy-related products and services, and electricity network operations in the Västerbergslagen region. The company owns Västerbergslagens Elnät AB and, until recently, Västerbergslagens Elförsäljning AB. Västerbergslagens Elförsäljning AB operates electricity retail under the established brand VB Elförsäljning.

Vattenfall AB has also divested its 50 per cent stake in Lilla Edets Fjärrvärme AB to Lilla Edets Municipality. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to be completed in the summer of 2026.

Lilla Edets Fjärrvärme produces and distributes district heating in the central parts of Lilla Edet.

The transactions form part of Vattenfall’s consolidation of its district heating operations into its wholly-owned subsidiary Vattenfall Värme AB.
