Sale of SunPine to VAROPreem

Mannheimer Swartling has advised Sveaskog on the sale of Sunpine AB (now renamed VAROPreem Sunpine AB) to VAROPreem Sverige AB.

Sunpine was previously jointly owned by VAROPreem, Sveaskog, Södra Skogsägarna and Lawter Europe BV and following an offer from a third party, VAROPreem Sverige AB exercised its right of first refusal to acquire all of the outstanding shares in the company.

VAROPreem Sunpine AB, is the world’s largest producer of crude tall diesel, an advanced biofuel feedstock made from residual products of the pulp and paper industry. The company’s facility in Piteå has the capacity to process approximately 400,000 tons per year.
