The shares in Essity are distributed to the shareholders in SCA and listed on Nasdaq Stockholm
Essity Aktiebolag (publ) (“Essity”), the former hygiene business of Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget SCA (“SCA”), is now a separately listed company with its shares trading on Nasdaq Stockholm.
On 15 June 2017, the series A shares and the series B shares in Essity were admitted to trading on Nasdaq Stockholm, following a distribution of the shares to the shareholders in SCA. Following the resolution on distribution and the listing of Essity the SCA Group is divided into two independent, listed companies, the forest products company and the hygiene and health company Essity. The hygiene business accounted for approximately 86% of the SCA Group’s 2016 net sales and the forest products business for approximately 14%, which in total amounted to SEK 117,314 million. On the first day of trading for the respective companies the market capitalisation was approximately SEK 174 billion for Essity and approximately SEK 45 billion for SCA.
Essity sells hygiene and health products in about 150 countries under strong brands, such as the globally leading brands TENA and Tork, and other brands, such as Leukoplast, Libero, Libresse, Lotus, Nosotras, Saba, Tempo, Vinda and Zewa. Furthermore, Essity develops, manufactures and sells products within wound care, compression therapy and orthopaedics. As of 31 December 2016, Essity had 42,520 employees and conducted manufacturing activities at 81 production facilities in over 30 countries.
