H2 Green Steel partners with thyssenkrupp nucera for the delivery of one of the largest electrolyzers in the world

H2 Green Steel has entered into an agreement with thyssenkrupp nucera, part of the German industrial conglomerate thyssenkrupp, for the delivery of an alkaline water electrolysis (AWE) technology plant with a capacity of more than 700 MW for the large-scale steel production plant currently being constructed by H2 Green Steel in Boden, Sweden.

Hydrogen from the electrolyzer will be utilized on a captive on-site basis in a process directly reducing ore into sponge iron, enabling production of green steel in large volumes. Planned start of steel production is during 2025.

The electrolysis plant is, for the time being, one of the largest in the world (and possibly the largest), and the contract value is in a multiple billion SEK magnitude.

H2 Green Steel was advised by Mannheimer Swartling.
