Concise Guide to Arbitration in Sweden – Third Edition

At the end of 2025, Mannheimer Swartling published the third edition of its “Concise Guide to Arbitration in Sweden”. The previous edition was released in 2019, and significant developments have taken place since then in both Swedish and international arbitration. The SCC has introduced a state-of-the-art digital case management platform, launched the innovative SCC Express to enable rapid dispute resolution, and revised its arbitration rules. In addition, Swedish courts have continued to shape arbitration law through a series of important decisions. This updated edition reflects all these developments.

The guide provides essential information for anyone participating in arbitration in Sweden – from the foundations of the arbitration agreement and the appointment of arbitrators, to the conduct of proceedings and the rendering, challenge and enforcement of awards. It covers both commercial arbitration and investment arbitration, and also offers an introduction to relevant aspects of substantive law typically arising in disputes over contracts governed by Swedish law. Finally, it includes practical guidance for lawyers visiting Sweden, including information on entry requirements, transport, hearing facilities, accommodation, dining, emergencies and – if time allows – sightseeing.

The authors of this edition are Robin Oldenstam, Hanne Aarsheim, Kristoffer Löf, Jakob Ragnwaldh, Robin Rylander and Fredrik Ringquist, all longstanding partners and members of Mannheimer Swartling’s dispute resolution group, which is recognised as a leading practice in the Nordics and ranked at the highest international level. More information about the firm’s dispute resolution practice is available here.

The guide is available free of charge in electronic form as an e-book or PDF.
