Heidelberg Materials is granted a permit for limestone quarrying in Slite

The Land and Environment Court in Nacka has granted Heidelberg Materials a permit for thirty years of continued limestone quarrying in Slite, Gotland. Limestone is the main raw material in cement, and the quarry supplies the company’s cement plant in Slite. The plant produces nearly three-quarters of the cement used in Sweden and is therefore of great national importance. The permitting process involved a large number of legal issues and engaged many authorities and private individuals.

Mannheimer Swartling represented Heidelberg Materials in the permitting process.
