Danish Ship Finance refinances Atlantic Container Line’s vessel ‘Atlantic Star’

Danish Ship Finance (Danmarks Skibskredit) has provided a secured term loan facility to refinance Atlantic Container Line’s (ACL) G4 container/roll-on, roll-off (CONRO) vessel ‘ Atlantic Star’.

ACL is owned by the Grimaldi Group and operates transatlantic offering specialised cargo shipping. The ACL G4 vessels are the first of their kind and the largest multipurpose container/RORO ships ever built. They incorporate an innovative design that increases capacity without significantly changing the dimensions of the vessel. The G4s are bigger, greener and more efficient than their predecessors.

The lender, Danish Ship Finance was established in 1961 with the purpose of providing ship financing in Denmark. Danish Ship Finance has since expanded the scope to include ship financing in the international market, today operating with a loan book of approximately USD 4 billion secured by first-priority mortgages in more than 500 vessels.

Danish Ship Finance was advised by Mannheimer Swartling in relation to the financing. The firm’s team consisted mainly of Susanne Fagerman, Ludvig Andersson and Ella Schelin.
