Statement on Iran

At Mannheimer Swartling, we are following the ongoing situation in Iran with concern. The shutdown of internet access and the violent suppression of peaceful demonstrations calling for fundamental rights and freedoms constitute serious violations of the rule of law.

As lawyers, we are committed to defending democracy, freedom of expression and respect for human rights, dignity and equality. Many of our employees and clients have roots in Iran. When communication and access to information from Iran are severely restricted, we, along with other members of the legal community, have a responsibility to draw attention to the situation and support the Iranian people in their legitimate demands for fundamental rights and freedoms.
