New law – Criminal law protection for technical trade secrets

Criminal liability for unlawful use and disclosure of technical trade secrets, even when the person had lawful access to the information, will be introduced. Two new offences are being introduced into the Trade Secrets Act, covering sensitive technical information such as drawings, processes and research results. The aim is to counteract the dissemination of knowledge that could harm innovation and competitiveness. The change strengthens protection for business and research and promotes Sweden’s innovative capacity.
