Mannheimer Swartling appoints new Managing Partner

Mannheimer Swartling has appointed Henrik Dock as its new Managing Partner, effective April 2026. He succeeds Jan Dernestam, who has held the role since 2011.

Henrik Dock, born in 1983, joined Mannheimer Swartling in 2011 and became a partner in 2020. He is recognised as one of Sweden’s leading lawyers in the field of M&A.

Two years ago, Jan Dernestam informed the firm that he planned to step down as Managing Partner in spring 2026. Following the customary selection process led by the firm’s Nomination Committee, Henrik Dock has now been elected by all partners as the new Managing Partner.

Henrik is incredibly committed and an outstanding leader. Together with our carefully prepared transition, this ensures both continuity and a strong platform for us to remain at the forefront of the legal industry. With the support of  our colleagues, Henrik will take Mannheimer Swartling to even greater success,” says Jan Dernestam.

During his tenure as Managing Partner, Jan has been dedicated to future-proofing Mannheimer Swartling through innovation and fresh thinking. The firm has proactively adapted to a business environment where legal challenges increasingly extend beyond pure law. Our advice is both world-class and highly relevant to the times. When fundamental legal principles are being questioned, it’s especially important for the legal industry to combine renewal with stability,” says Henrik Dock.

Mannheimer Swartling’s key milestones during Jan Dernestam’s tenure as Managing Partner include:

  • Global societal issues integrated into the firm’s advisory services through the recruitment of leading experts: Emma Ihre (Head of Sustainability, 2014), Klas Eklund (Senior Economist, 2017) and Joakim Paasikivi (Senior Geopolitical Adviser, 2025).
  • Launch of MSA Innovation Lab in 2019, an incubator for legal start-ups. AI-related platforms Legora and Pocketlaw are among the incubator companies.
  • Acquisition of AI company TrubL in 2024 to further develop the firm’s proprietary AI platform.
  • Mannheimer Swartling ranked the most attractive law firm to work at in Sweden by the country’s law students for 23 consecutive years, according to FöretagsBarometern.

Mannheimer Swartling today has a very strong culture of collaboration, a forward-leaning way of working, and market-leading expertise across all areas of business law. With full commitment, and together with all our fantastic colleagues, I look forward to leading Mannheimer Swartling into its next era as the Nordic region’s leading full-service business law firm,” concludes Henrik Dock.
