The Swedish Western region procures a unique service for the digitalisation of the pathology process
The Swedish Western region - Västra Götalandsregionen (“VGR”) has, following the completion of a public procurement process, procured a service for the digitalisation of the pathology process within VGR. The digitalisation of the pathology process relates to the pathology treatment from remittance to final test results, which has not previously been conducted in the now current scale. The term of the agreement is ten years with a possibility to prolong the agreement with an additional ten years. The total value of the contract is substantial.
The procurement has been conducted as a so called competitive dialogue. One of the explicit goals of the procurement was to ensure that VGR has access to modern and innovative technology during the entire term of the agreement, and through the agreement VGR is therefore granted access to innovative solutions within the pathology field during the entire term. In total, four tenders were submitted and the contract was finally awarded to Tieto Sweden Healthcare and Welfare AB.
VGR was advised by Mannheimer Swartling in connection with the procurement. The firm’s team was led by Niklas Sjöblom, assisted by, among others, Johanna Jonsson and Martin Hallström.
