TeliaSonera acquires Tele2’s Norwegian operations
TeliaSonera has agreed to acquire Tele2’s operations in Norway at an enterprise value of SEK 5.1 billion.
The transaction will increase TeliaSonera’s mobile subscription base in Norway from 1.6 million to 2.7 million. In connection with the acquisition, TeliaSonera is accelerating the 4G roll-out to reach 98 per cent population coverage already by 2016 instead of 2018. The acquisition is subject to approval from the Norwegian Competition Authorities and is expected to be finalized by the first quarter of 2015.
TeliaSonera was advised by Mannheimer Swartling and Simonsen Vogt Wiig (Norway) in the transaction. Mannheimer Swartling’s team was led by Biörn Riese and Tom Wehtje primarily assisted by Therese Jansson and Simonsen Vogt Wiig's team was led by Espen Tøndel and Henning Øvrebø.
