Stockholm County Council sign agreement with Philips regarding medical imaging equipment for the new Karolinska hospital in Solna
Stockholm County Council (SCC) has entered into a comprehensive function based delivery and service agreement with Philips AB (Philips) regarding the delivery, installation, maintenance, updating, upgrading and replacement of medical imaging equipment such as MRI’s, CT’s, ultrasound equipment etc., for the new Karolinska hospital site in Solna (NKS).
Through an innovative contract structure, NKS secures access to the functionality requested for imaging and functional equipment, rather than the availability of a certain pre-specified equipment, until 2028 when the contract expires, unless SCC exercises its right to extend the contract for an additional six years. The agreement is also structured in a way that enables other providers of imaging and functional equipment than Philips to deliver equipment to NKS as subcontractors to Philips. The agreement also includes an innovation partnership.
Philips was awarded the contract in competition with two other vendors following a public European tendering process. The procurement was conducted as a “competitive dialogue” with the three suppliers, who had to qualify for participation in the dialogue following a selection process.
Stockholm County Council was advised by Mannheimer Swartling during the procurement process and in the preparation of the agreement. Jan Kansmark led the firm’s team handling the assignment, primarily assisted by Annika Edmén , Sofie Willgottson, Malin Håkansson and Simon Ottosson. Johan Carle handled procurement issues, primarily assisted by Sven Vaxenbäck and Viveka Heimer.
