SL commissions stadler to deliver vehicles to Roslagsbanan
Stockholm County Council has, through Stockholm Public Transport (“SL”), awarded Stadler Bussnang AG an agreement to deliver new vehicles to Roslagsbanan. The agreement covers a total of 67 new vehicles, 22 vehicles in the initial order and 45 vehicles as an option. The contract value for the initial order is estimated at approximately 2 billion Swedish kronor.
SL, which is a part of the Stockholm County Council, is tasked to plan, procure, administrate, develop and promote public transport in the County of Stockholm. The procurement of vehicles for Roslagsbanan is part of SL’s programme for expanding Roslagsbanan which, in addition to the new vehicles, also encompasses investment in e.g. extension of the tracks from ca 14,5 kilometres to ca 36,5 kilometres and a new vehicle depot in Molnby, Vallentuna. The total investment in the expansion programme for Roslagsbanan is estimated to approximately 9,6 billion Swedish kronor.
Stadler, a leading manufacturer of rolling stock, has over 7,000 employees worldwide. The supplier, Stadler Bussnang AG, and the parent company of the Stadler Group, Stadler Rail AG, are domiciled in Bussnang, Switzerland.
SL has been advised by Mannheimer Swartling in the procurement of the new vehicles. The firm’s team was led by Martin Pekkari (Corporate Commercial and Infrastructure and Construction), assisted primarily by Mikaela Källmén and Liisa Rajala Malmgren (Corporate Commercial).
