Hemsö acquires nursing home – continuing expansion in Germany
Hemsö has acquired an elderly care home in Mülheim a.d. Ruhr, Germany, from a UK-based investment fund and entered into a long term lease with the home’s operator Caritasverband Stadt Duisburg e.V.
Hemsö is a property company that owns, manages and develops buildings for community services in Sweden and Germany. Hemsö’s property portfolio in Germany, managed from the company’s office in Berlin, comprises 24 elderly care homes run by 11 operators. In 2014, the group has acquired properties in Germany for approximately SEK 475 million and renegotiated prolonged lease agreements with Hellmich and AWO, its two largest tenants in the region. Hemsö aims to continue its expansion in Germany, with a focus on Berlin, Dresden, Hamburg, Leipzig, the Rhine-Main region, and the metropolitan areas of North Rhine-Westphalia. The Hemsö group is owned by The Third Swedish National Pension Fund (85%) and Sagax (15%).
