Mannheimer Swartling’s Annual Report 2021
With another pandemic year behind us, it’s safe to say that the demand for our services has been greater than ever.
When the pandemic first struck Sweden in March 2020, the markets descended into chaos, deals were cancelled, negotiations postponed and workplaces shut down. As we all know, the economic situation soon stabilised and business picked up again. But global uncertainty remained high throughout 2021, further fuelled by concerns over inflation and geopolitical issues.
Now, of course, the world’s attention is on Russia and its appalling invasion of Ukraine, which has created enormous geopolitical challenges. Like so many others, we are horrified by Russia’s actions. We are supporting the UNHCR’s work in every way we can and we are working to close our operations in Moscow as a direct consequence of the invasion. As a law firm, we have a particular responsibility to safeguard the rule of law and we were one of the first law firms to speak out against the invasion while announcing that we would leave the Russian market after a presence of 35 years.
Recent times have shaken the world but, even in this demanding environment, our cohesive team of 600 people work hard to maintain the highest quality advice and help our clients with the challenges we are all now facing. With these words, I want to thank all employees and clients for the past year.
We invite you to read about our work during 2021 in our annual report. Let us now hope that this tragic war against Ukraine will soon come to an end.
