As a trainee for six months, you'll be able to see what it's like to work as an associate at our EU and competition practice group in Brussels. You will be involved in case-related work right from the outset, including EU and competition law court proceedings, merger notifications to the European Commission and national authorities and also cases concerning free movement of goods and services, general EU law, state support and trade law. The work involves independently carrying out investigations, contacting authorities, taking part in client meetings, writing memos, proposals for advice and sections of court submissions. Great demands will be made of your written and oral skills and your ability to quickly familiarise yourself with new subject-matter under the guidance of more senior lawyers. As a trainee you are therefore in the ideal setting to rapidly develop your legal skills.
There are currently eight lawyers at the Brussels office. You will be joining a close-knit team at a large business law office in an international setting. The work includes contact with our other offices, law firms around the world and public authorities, particularly the Swedish Competition Authority and the European Commission. The trainee period includes the opportunity to take part in training courses and conferences on competition and EU law. This will give you ample opportunity to make many new and interesting acquaintances.
Trainee placements are paid and you will work in Brussels.
Trainee placements are right for you if you are approaching the end of your studies or have recently graduated and are interested in EU and competition law. A new trainee period starts approximately every three months and we therefore hire all year round. Please feel free to contact us if you would like more information.
