Cementa is granted a permit to expand the Slite quarry

The Land and Environment Court in Nacka has granted Cementa AB a permit to expand its quarry in Slite, Gotland. The permit allows for another 20 years of limestone mining. Limestone is the main component in cement and the quarry supplies Cementa’s cement factory in Slite. About two thirds of all concrete that is produced in Sweden is made from cement from this factory, and the permit secures a continued national supply of cement.

Several authorities and organizations opposed the application, and the permit can be appealed to the Land and Environment Court of Appeal.

Cementa is advised by Mannheimer Swartling in the permitting process.
