Transitio awards Stadler procurement contract for 33 regional trains for the Stockholm – Mälar region
AB Transitio has awarded Stadler Bussnang AG (Stadler) a procurement contract for the purchase and delivery of 33 Dosto double-decker trains and equipment and spare parts for the trains. In addition to the initial order, the contract includes an option to purchase up to 110 additional trains. The value of the initial order is approximately SEK 3.5 billion. The trains will be used in the new regional rail service in the Stockholm – Mälar region that is being established by Mälardalstrafik MÄLAB AB (MÄLAB).
AB Transitio is owned by the Swedish county councils/regions and procures, finances and manages railway vehicles on behalf of the Swedish regional public transport authorities. MÄLAB is owned by the regional authorities in Stockholm, Örebro, Södermanland, Uppsala, Västmanland and Östergötland.
Stadler is a privately owned manufacturer of railway vehicles with headquarters in Bussnang, Switzerland, and approximately 5,000 employees.
