Telenor acquires Open Net
Telenor Sverige has acquired Open Broadbandnet Sweden AB from Sweden Carnica Group. The acquisition also comprises an agreement for technical support and maintenance between Telenor Sweden and Fiberdata.
Open Net is the second largest communications operator in Sweden, in terms of number of connections, and operates about 40 metropolitan networks and open networks in 36 municipalities across the country.
Telenor Sweden, part of the Telenor Group, is a supplier of telecommunications, computer and media services. Telenor Sweden includes Bredbandsbolaget and Glocalnet which together have an annual turnover of approximately SEK 11.95 billion (2011) and approximately 2200 employees. The Telenor Group is one of the world’s largest mobile operators with 146 million mobile subscriptions and annual sales of NOK 99 billion (2011). The group has about 30 000 employees and is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange (TEL).
Telenor Sweden was advised by Mannheimer Swartling in the transaction. The firm’s team included partner Hans Andréasson and associates Martin Gynnerstedt, Gustav Lundin and Anna Nidén.
