Ratos acquires Rail Service Management Group

Mannheimer Swartling has advised Ratos and EuroMaint in connection with the acquisition of Rail Service Management Group (RSM), a leading provider of rolling stock maintenance services in Germany. The transaction encompasses maintenance operations throughout Germany, as well as in Poland, the Netherlands and Belgium.

EuroMaint is one of Sweden’s leading maintenance companies and offers advanced maintenance services to the rail transport sector and industry. Through the acquisition of RSM, a group with revenues of approximately EUR 94 million in 2008, EuroMaint extends its strong market position in Sweden to one of Europe’s most important railway markets. EuroMaint is wholly-owned by Ratos, a private equity company listed on NASDAQ OMX. The transaction is subject to approval from the competition authorities.

Mannheimer Swartling’s team handling the transaction was led by Thomas Kaiser-Stockmann, primarily assisted by Carsten Schippmann, Rebekka Hye-Knudsen and Maren Ropeter. Jürgen Busch was responsible for competition law issues, assisted by Alexander von Kleist.
