MSAB increases its stake in AAK to 35%

Melker Schörling AB (MSAB), the Swedish investment company, has increased its stake in AarhusKarlshamn (AAK) from 23.6% to 35.0% for approximately SEK 1 billion.

MSAB has agreed to acquire United International Enterprise’s (UIE) entire 41.5% stake in MSAB- and UIE-owned BNS Holding which in turn owns 40.4% of AAK. As part of the transaction, BNS will transfer a 5.4% stake in AAK to UIE, leaving BNS with 35% of AAK. UIE further gains 1.14% of the capital in MSAB via a directed share issue of SEK 230 million.

AAK is the world’s leading producer of high value-added specialty vegetable fats and has production facilities in Denmark, Mexico, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Sweden, Uruguay and the USA. The company’s share is listed on NASDAQ OMX Stockholm.

MSAB is an active holding company with large shareholdings in seven publicly listed companies and has a net asset value of approximately SEK 20 billion. The company’s share is listed on NASDAQ OMX Stockholm.

MSAB was advised by Mannheimer Swartling in the transaction. The firm’s team included partner Åsa Hansdotter assisted by senior associate Emma Sandberg Thomsen and associates Emma Kratz and Zackarias Ekman.
