Mannheimer Swartling hosts pre-moot to the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot 2016
For the eighth consecutive year, Mannheimer Swartling, in co-operation with Stockholm University, hosted a pre-moot to the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. Law students representing universities from twelve countries converged in Stockholm to compete against each other in a fictive international arbitration case.
At the award ceremony University of Ottawa was named Best Team, prevailing over University of Vienna in the final round. Best Individual Advocacy went to Nicole Rozario, University of Ottawa, followed by Sonja Heiskala, University of Helsinki. The coveted Best Colleagues prize – decided by a vote amongst all the teams in the competition – was awarded to Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro.
The Mannheimer Swartling Vis Arbitration Pre-Moot, held 11-13 March 2014, commenced with a conference at the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC) followed by a welcome reception at Mannheimer Swartling. Rounds of competition were held at the firm throughout the weekend with all the teams arguing their case before arbitral tribunals comprised of, amongst others, coaches from the competing teams, and lawyers from Mannheimer Swartling.
The Mannheimer Swartling Vis Arbitration Pre-Moot constitutes an important part of each team’s preparations for the Vis Moot and also offers a unique opportunity for students and professionals in the field of arbitration in Europe to meet and socialize. Participating at this year’s pre-moot were teams from Utrecht University, Jagiellonian University, University of Vienna, University of Ottawa, Stockholm University, Lomonosov Moscow State University, University of Geneva, University of Tartu, Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Pantheon-Sorbonne University, Reykjavik University and University of Helsinki.
The twenty-third annual C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot will be held this year in Vienna from 19-24 April.
