Mannheimer Swartling partner and board member, Peter Idsäter, to join team in China

Mannheimer Swartling announces plans to strengthen presence in China with relocation of Peter Idsäter to Shanghai in August 2010.

Peter Idsäter has been a partner at Mannheimer Swartling since 1995 and served on the firm’s board since 2005. He is a member of Mannheimer Swartling’s M&A and Equity Capital Markets practice groups and his practice frequently includes instructions in international corporate transactions. Recently, he has also coordinated the firm’s international development efforts.

“This decision by Peter and the board underscores Mannheimer Swartling’s ambition to have a strong presence in China. It’s a market of strategic importance for all our clients – and we’re taking a long view on realizing the potential of this region.”

- Stefan Brocker, Managing Partner

“With over 20 Swedish, Chinese and German lawyers in our offices in Shanghai and Hong Kong, we have a strong base to handle M&A and corporate matters for our clients. The recent addition of Dispute Resolution expertise in Hong Kong was also well-timed to meet the growing demand for China-related arbitrations. Peter’s arrival boosts our capacity to handle the increasing number of M&A and corporate instructions."

- Thomas Lagerqvist, Special Counsel

“Our clients’ ambitions in China are long term and we also face growing interest from Chinese corporates and state-owned enterprises to advise on their outbound matters, particularly to Sweden, Germany and Russia. This move is a great opportunity and I look forward to joining my colleagues in China and contributing to the firm’s growth in this exciting market.”
