MÄLAB enters into Public Private Partnership agreement for establishment of new train depot
Mälardalstrafik MÄLAB AB (MÄLAB) has entered into an agreement with the municipality of Eskilstuna pursuant to which the municipality has been assigned the responsibility to acquire land, plan, build, operate, maintain and finance a new depot located within the Eskilstuna train station area as part of the new regional rail services system for the Mälardal region. The depot will primarily be used for maintenance and service for trains recently acquired by AB Transitio for the purposes of the new rail services system. The depot will be leased to MÄLAB for a period of 25 years.
MÄLAB is owned by the county councils of Stockholm, Örebro, Uppsala, Västmanland and Östergötland and the municipality confederation of Sörmland, and its operations consist of managing and developing regional rail services in the Mälardal region, including the realization of the new rail services system of which the new depot in Eskilstuna will be part.
