Göteborgs Spårvägar signs agreement with Bombardier Transportation and Vossloh Kiepe for the purchase and delivery of trams
Göteborgs Spårvägar has entered into an agreement with a consortium consisting of Bombardier Transportation and Vossloh Kiepe for the purchase and delivery of 40 trams together with documentation, training, spare parts and equipment etc. In addition to the initial order, the contract includes an option to purchase up to 60 additional trams. The value of the initial order is approximately SEK 1.3 billion.
Göteborgs Spårvägar is owned by the City of Gothenburg and is tasked by the city and Västtrafik with providing public transport services. The procurement has been carried out on behalf of the City of Gothenburg. The new trams will replace parts of the older vehicle fleet and enable an increase of services in the tram network of Gothenburg and offer passengers modern and attractive vehicles.
Bombardier Transportation, a leading manufacturer of rail vehicles, has approximately 1,900 employees in Sweden. Globally, the group has 64 production and construction sites in 26 countries, 19 service centres and approximately 35,000 employees. Vossloh Kiepe is a leading supplier of, among other things, solutions for electric rail vehicles. Globally the group is established in several European countries and North America, and has approximately 1,000 employees.
