Biörn Riese receives Swedish Bar Association’s prize for outstanding work in the legal profession

Mannheimer Swartling partner and chairman Biörn Riese has received the Swedish Bar Association’s prize for outstanding work in the legal profession. Riese is the first lawyer specializing in business law to receive the award.

Biörn Riese received the award for having put business lawyers on the map in an exemplary manner. According to the citation, his contributions have clearly demonstrated the importance of business law in a complex society. The prize amounts to SEK 100 000, which will be donated to a pro bono project in the winner’s name. Biörn Riese received the award from the Swedish Bar Association’s Secretary General Anne Ramberg at the annual “Advokatdagarna” conference held in Stockholm on 17 October 2013.

Biörn Riese said: “I feel both proud and honored to receive this prize. Not just for my own sake, but also for the teams that have contributed to so many cases.”

Biörn Riese has over 30 years of experience as a business lawyer and leads Mannheimer Swartling’s global M & A practice. He is primarily focused on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, compliance and investigations, as well as restructurings. Biörn Riese has led a series of investigations and reports, a number of which have been made public.
