Accent Equity acquires majority stake in Akademibokhandeln
The investment fund Accent Equity 2012 has agreed to acquire a 65% stake in Akademibokhandeln from Kooperativa Förbundet (KF). Stiftelsen Bokförlaget Natur & Kultur and Killbergs Bokhandel AB, the two largest owners besides KF, will stay on as minority shareholders. The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approval.
Akademibokhandeln is Sweden’s leading bookstore chain with 120 stores, a subsidiary focusing on e-commerce under the Bokus brand and a digital book offering. In 2014, Akademibokhandeln’s and Bokus’ combined sales amounted to SEK 1.7 billion.
Accent Equity 2012 was advised by Mannheimer Swartling in the transaction. The firm’s team consisted primarily of Peter Alhanko, Johan Frost Bergman and Viktor Nykvist (M&A), Oscar Björkman Possne (IP), and Johan Carle and Klas Arvidsson (Competition).
