Mannheimer Swartling opened offices in Shanghai and Hong Kong in early 2007. Currently, the firm has about 20 lawyers/paralegals stationed in China. By being located in China, the firm is able to assist its clients in situ with all the necessary experience and know-how regarding the Chinese market and the Chinese regulatory framework, whilst having a full understanding of the needs and wishes of Swedish and Nordic clients. Like many companies, Mannheimer Swartling has followed its clients and the client's demands of receiving the same high quality advice which they are accustomed to from their home market. Mannheimer Swartling also co-operates with local Chinese law firms in order to provide comprehensive advice.
Mannheimer Swartling's ambition is to be the leading and most frequently instructed law firm, first and foremost, for Nordic companies wishing to do business in China. The firm also assists Chinese clients which invest in, and otherwise do business with, the Nordic countries or with other countries in which Mannheimer Swartling is represented.
Primarily, the firm's offices in China focus on foreign direct investments (acquisitions, joint ventures and restructuring of existing investments), international arbitration, intellectual property rights, real estate as well as banking and finance. The firm also provides services such as providing a company secretary for a great number of companies as well as assisting with trade mark applications.
We recruit Chinese lawyers with a Chinese law degree who are interested in pursuing an international career in one of our Chinese offices. As an applicant, you should have excellent academic record and English skills. Although not decisive, a working knowledge of Swedish or another Scandinavian language and/or an interest in Scandinavian culture is an advantage. All lawyers will be members of our firm-wide practice groups and industry sector groups and will participate in regular meetings and training sessions where we share knowledge and experience.
