Mannheimer Swartling has been the leading advisor to the Swedish automotive industry for decades. One of the firm’s partners acted as secretary to the Board of a leading Swedish  automobile manufacturer in the 1970's and devoted most of his time to this assignment; a unique arrangement then and representative of the close relationship the firm enjoys with  the automotive industry to this day. Many of the firm’s partners have a background as in-house counsel in the automotive industry and we regularly second associates to the legal departments of Swedish companies in the automotive sector. We therefore have a large number of lawyers who are familiar with the industry.

Mannheimer Swartling has acted in essentially all major transactions in the Swedish automotive industry over the past several decades, including the sale of Swedish OEMs, several public offers concerning manufacturers and distributors, and outsourcing of component manufacturers from OEMs.

Mannheimer Swartling has been engaged in Lindholmen Science Park and its Test Site Sweden since it was founded  in 2001 as a national project and a neutral meeting place for common research projects in the automotive sector within safety, environment and ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) with, among others, a number of automotive companies as co-owners.
