The entire legal profession is facing the challenge of inspiring female associates to seek partnership and to keep women and men who have small children. Mannheimer Swartling endeavours to be the best business law firm to work at and to work for and thus continual efforts must be dedicated to equality and diversity issues.
In consultation with the firm’s associates, several activities have been conducted over the last few years and significant efforts have and are continuing to be made to make it easier for parents of small children to combine a successful career with parenthood and, in the long-term, to have more female partners.
Among other things, the programme for parents of small children has been developed in consultation with the associates. The initiative of creating a parenthood programme in a male dominated profession culminated in the firm being awarded the “Man against the tide 2007” award from the business magazine, Veckans affärer. In addition, the firm has created leadership and mentorship programmes and established a female lawyers’ network. The equality issue continues to be in the fore and the firm focuses on changing ingrained patterns and attitudes which have permeated the profession for a long time.
